Have I finally found the right site to write a semi-regular blog? Here’s hoping! I have a sister blog. Return to Rio. full of information about my books and reviews on other authors’ books. I’ll add that when I get to links.
I don’t want to rehash everything I’ve ever said, but I genuinely have written since I was five. I really did get my first sale a year later, when I made a $1.50 on a poem about dolphins. After that, I didn’t really made money for a very long time. But I wrote anyway, because words torment me. They dig into my consciousness, and I need to find out what they’re saying, so I sit down and let stories and poems work themselves out.
In college I read Linda Goodman’s books on Sun Signs and gained a few minutes of fame when I worked the front desk to our dorm, because I could guess sun signs pretty well. That ended when a Taurus who danced ballet and was rather conceited asked me how I knew her sign. I told her because Linda described Taurus women as having a “bovine appearance.” If I just hadn’t answered honestly, I might not have been hit by her baton or fired from that job.
Anyway, there’s a raccoon on my head in some of my pictures. Seemed perfectly normal when I was in charge of our roadside amusement park/zoo.
Next blog, I’ll talk a little about what I write, who and what I read, and probably finish explaining about the raccoon. And the lion.
I’ll be starting a Substack, and would love if you would follow/subscribe. I will follow back.
Thanks for coming by, and talk to you all soon.
